Though cookies are our true calling, we can’t resist baking delectable pies like cheesecake, key lime and banana cream. And then devouring them, of course.
To make a pie crust that’s extra crunchy and filled with only naturally delicious ingredients, we turned to our very own cookies for a sweet new take on a classic dessert.
With a quick and easy prep time, it’s a fun activity for for parents and kids of all ages!
For your pie crust, we recommend using 25 Grace’s Best Cookies and 4 tablespoons of melted butter, or as much as needed.
Grace’s Best Cookies are made only with the kinds of ingredients you can find right in your own kitchen, like sunflower seeds, rolled oats and brown sugar.
First, place all your Grace’s Best Cookies into a large, clear plastic bag. Make sure it’s sealed nice and tight.
Next comes the fun part: take a rolling pin and start smashing! This is where your kids will come in handy. We can’t guarantee there won’t be a mess, however. It all depends on how your littles take you up on this task.
Once the cookies have been crushed into crumbs, dump them in a bowl and stir in the melted butter until the mixture is consistent.
Place the mixture into a pie pan, press down until the crust in covering the bottom and the sides, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Finally, add whatever pie filling you have on top of the crust and voila – you’re done! Your pie with a naturally delicious crust, complete with sunflower seeds and rolled oats, is ready to go!
